What goes on a plumbing quote
The usual line items. The AI picks the ones your job needs, and you can add or remove any.
- Labour (hours)
- Fittings and valves
- Fixtures (if you supply them)
- Disposal of old fixtures
- Call-out fee
- Compliance paperwork
Tips for plumbing quotes that win the job
- Write down who supplies the fixture. A customer-supplied tap that doesn't fit is the most common dispute on small jobs.
- Exclude hidden pipework: "price assumes existing pipes are in serviceable condition".
- Quote the call-out separately so a two-minute fix still covers your travel.
Rules to mention in Australia
Plumbing is licensed by each state, and most states require a compliance certificate after the work. Put your licence number on the quote.
General information, not legal advice. Check the current rules with your regulator or council.
Example job description
Replace leaking kitchen mixer and both isolation valves, Brisbane northside. Customer supplies the tapware. About 1.5 hours.
The more you say (size, location, who supplies what, how long it takes), the better the draft. Anything you leave out goes into the assumptions, so the customer can see it.
Questions
- Is a quote a fixed price?
- A quote is generally a fixed price for the work it describes, while an estimate is your best guess. If the job changes, agree the variation in writing. This is why Sorted Quote lists assumptions and exclusions on every quote.
- Do I have to charge GST?
- You must register for GST once your turnover is $75,000 or more. If you are registered, quotes to consumers should show the total price including GST. Untick "GST registered" if you aren't.
- Does the AI set my prices?
- No. It drafts the scope, line items, assumptions and exclusions. You type in your own rates, and the GST and totals are worked out exactly in your browser.
- Is it free?
- Yes. No sign-up, no card. Your business details are saved on your device, not on our servers.
